The Reluctant King

In the wake of their loss of Evan I and the recent scandals and disasters hitting the Barony, it was only normal that the citizenry turn to their new Baron for guidance, and hope for the future.

However, since his inauguration, Clovis I has been conspicuous by his absence.
Continually pursued by stewards and councillors to deal with dull affairs of state when he would rather be dueling or womanising or exploring the wilderness Clovis plays a game of cat and mouse with them and is passing less and less time at his duties.

The kingdom is suffering for his lack of leadership...

  1. @Leo: I guess that the crown is glued to your head. According to Wilkipedia, this reluctant king could not get rid of his crown!

    Let's quote:
"The trilogy follows the adventures of ex-king Jorian, a native of the village of Ardamai in the kingdom of Kortoli, one of the twelve city-states of Novaria. Jorian is a powerful and intelligent man who has trained extensively for a life of adventure, but hampered by garulousness and a weakness for drink and women. When first seen, Jorian is the reluctant king of Xylar, another Novarian city-state. The Xylarians select their king every five years by executing the reigning monarch and tossing his head into a crowd; the man who catches it becomes the next king. Jorian, having been selected for the position five years before, is at the end of his term as ruler. He miraculously escapes his fate with the aid of the Mulvanian sorcerer Dr. Karadur. The tale continues through a pair of spectacularly disastrous quests in aid of his savior, the first taking them through the exotic lands of Mulvan, Komilakh and Shven and the second south to the ancient empire of Penembei. In the course of the later adventure Jorian is tapped to be ruler of Penembei, an office nearly as hazardous as king of Xylar. Adroitly ducking this second crown he endeavors to recover from Xylar his favorite wife Estrildis, with whom he hopes to retire to a life of quiet obscurity, only to have things once again go wrong..."

It sound pretty funny, I might even think of reading it!

  2. But Quorra has come up with a possible solution to this unease that could kill not just two but many birds with a tiny stone.

She will explain it to Clovis and ex-Evan (what is your new bloody name Evan?) in a small and very private council.

One thig is sure, this solution does not - mind you, NOT - involves Quorra! She shuns the title and thinks that Barons' days are too long (see above!) and their lives too short!

As many say: "Change things so everything stays the same". This is the solution...

  3. But what about his faith in Abadar, and the will that conquers every hardship he used to talk about...? Maybe the new Clovis is possessed. Or he has sold himself the clique that wants to destroy the Six Rivers!
