The Calendar on Golarion

Time travels on Golarion much as it does here on our own Earth. Years are broken up into twelve 30-day months.

The current date is 16 Lamashan 4711 AR (Absalom Reckoning).

Days of the Week
The days of the week are as follows. Each day has a general purpose that most people in the Inner Sea region follow.

Day General Purpose
Moonday (Work, religion [night])
Toilday (Work)
Wealday (Work)
Oathday (Work, pacts signed, oaths sworn)
Fireday (Work)
Starday (Work)
Sunday (Rest, religion)

Months
The months in Golarion correspond to our own, with each new year starting shortly after the solstice. You'll notice that the name of each month is etymologically tied to a specific god—residents of Golarion see the gods reflected in the changing of the seasons, and their names for the months reflect this. (Gozreh's month, for instance, is a time of budding and new life, while Zon-Kuthon's is seen as the death of the old year.) Holidays in a given month are generally tied to their patron deity. In order, the months are:

Abadius (January)
Calistril (February)
Pharast (March)
Gozran (April)
Desnus (May)
Sarenith (June)
Erastus (July)
Arodus (August)
Rova (September)
Lamashan (October)
Neth (November)
Kuthona (December)

  1. It's forbidden to call October Lamashan in our country! By edict so. In the edict it is pointed out as evidence that the name itself has caused the Hag to come and hurt newborn children! (to Evan, Lamashtu, Gyronna and every given servant of these are more or less the same morass)

  2. Anione using the name will be held accountable for any malformation of the newborn. The proper name of the month shall be Pazan (shall protect against the negative influence of other nation calling the month Lamashan. That explains why others have so many idiots in their ranks).

  3. The whole calendar naming shall be changed. Calistris is Abadius 2nd. Arodius shall be Draconian (also informally referred to Koboldus); Rova, Lamashan and Kuthona will be Pazan, Pazan 2nd and Pazan 3rd.

  4. Actually no. Being the South West Warm Wind, Paz shall have the hot months. Other deities will be displaced. Some don't make it in the calendar, for being dead deities or otherwise for pissing off Evan's sensitivity. So the official calendar...

    Abadius (January)
    Abadius 2nd (February)
    Pharast (March)
    Gozran (April)
    Desnus (May)
    Pazan (June)
Pazan 2nd (July) also known as Draconian or Koboldus
    Pazan 3rd (August)
    Erastus (September)
    Sarenith (October)
    Neth (November)
    Erastus 2nd (December)

  5. Changing every month would be a bit much... It'd be akin to making everyone use the Chinese calendar - people would still use the old. In any case, the months have less to do with worship of the gods than the existence of the gods. Gods exist. They have months named after them that loosely follow their realms of influence and they've been named such for over 4000 years.

Changing Lamashan to Pazan is understandable, given Pazuzu's righteous hatred of Lamashtu, but changing the whole calendar system is just going to confuse everybody! (though I do like naming a month after the kobolds....)

  6. By old calendar, I certainly don't mean to say that the occidental calendar dates further back...

  7. We can introduce it as unofficial maybe. Except for Lamashtu! Lamashtu has to officially go! What with the accident of the malformed babies. Still hurting the collective sensitivity!
